Malaysia Independent Day - Merdeka Merdeka
Spread the Merdeka by SMS and MMS
In January 1956, Tunku Abdul Rahman led a delegation comprising four members of The Alliance coalition and four Rulers’ representatives to London, to negotiate on Malaya's independence. After three weeks of negotiations, the London Independence Agreement was signed on Feb 8, 1956. The British Government had agreed to give Malaya her independence on the August 31 of the following year.
When Tunku Abdul Rahman and his delegation returned from London, the happy news was announced at Padang Merdeka, Bandar Hilir Melaka, – the place “where it all began”. The announcement was received by all with utmost joy.
The people's objective and dreams were reached on the night of August 30, 1957 at the Padang Selangor Club (now Dataran Merdeka) where the Union Jack flag was lowered for the last time and the Malayan flag was proudly raised.
The following day a new independent nation was born with Tunku Abdul Rahman declaring the Malayan Independence at the Merdeka Stadium. The historical event was attended by thousands of citizens, the Malay Rulers, the Duke of Gloucester (representing the Queen) and other representatives from the British government. The day was a most important and glorious day for all Malayans (then) and Malaysians today, for after 446 long years of colonisation, our land finally became a sovereign independent nation.

RedesignMalaysia.com to foster better E-governance and Transparency
RedesignMalaysia.com is a private sector initiative designed for collaborative change. It is designed to foster better e-governance, and transparency, and to harness collective voices to improve situations for all. The current phase 1 focus of the site is to improve the quality and coverage of broadband in Malaysia. We aim to achieve this through the compilation of relevant news articles, highlighting areas that lack coverage, through giving consumers an understanding of broadband options in their area, and providing valuable user-driven data.
RedesignMalaysia.com aims to harness whatever dissatisfaction, constructive criticism or suggestions from the people that matter the most - the rakyat (the people). It is in line with the current governments call for more accountability and transparency.
The players that provide broadband services stand to benefit the most from this - or perhaps, or maybe, only the ones that provide good service. RedesignMalaysia.com Phase One provides a significant, and soon to be exhaustive overview of the broadband situation in Malaysia, and gives a wide public overview that is easily understood. We aim to accelerate the demand/supply chain as well as provide an avenue for public consumer feedback.
At the end of the day, we aim to work with all parties whether companies, individuals and the government to create a better broadband environment. We do not claim to be the authoritative or most accurate resource on the topic of Malaysian broadband, however, we might just be the best publicly available one, and one of the most significant efforts to improve local broadband to date.
Please comment and contribute should you see any inaccuracies – the process of mapping coverage and improving the service is aimed to be a collaborative one involving RedesignMalaysia.com, broadband service providers and its users.

Letting Her Know You Love Her
“It’s the thought that counts.” Oh boy, how many times have I heard that expression? And it’s not like I don’t agree with it; as a matter of fact, you could say that it has been my guiding force when buying and giving presents. More than any other single occasion, Valentine’s Day is an occasion for love and romance. Unlike Christmas, for example, where you celebrate a variety of thoughts and feelings like love, friendship, peace, sharing, and family ties, to name a few. And on this special day, the things you say and do to show your love and affection will go further and have a longer-lasting influence on your love life than any other day of the year.
So how do you show your love? Well, you can go small or you can go big; it’s all up to you, your creativity, and your budget. Sometimes the old-fashioned methods work the best; but sometimes new and unusual tricks can do magic. What is important is the emotion, the true passion behind each word you say or each gift you give. Once you get an idea of how it works and you’ve mastered it, you’re set for life.
Try writing a love letter. Yes, I realize that it may sound a little bit cheesy, but remember: it’s Valentine’s Day, right? Perhaps you will find that it’s easier to put down your thoughts of love and romance on paper than it is to speak them out loud. A personal, heartfelt love letter that expresses your feelings of romance and affection for the other person will go a long, long way in fanning the flames of passion. A love letter can do wonders.
Of course, you can say it with roses. But before you pick up a single stem, make sure that the colour of the roses you choose will give out the correct message of romance you want. For example, everyone knows that red roses proclaim “I love you”, but do you know that coral roses express desire? You can also give other flowers for Valentine’s Day. So you also need to know what kind of messages other flowers stand for. A red carnation means “My heart aches for you…”, while a pink one means “I’ll never forget you”.
A trip would be good. A romantic getaway will give you and your loved one some precious time and privacy to relive cherished memories and create new ones. Sometimes, simply planning and anticipating the trip will already heighten the feelings of romance. Set aside time in your busy schedules and determine what type of setting you would consider romantic. You can also treat yourselves to a relaxing getaway at a world-class spa. This could be the best gift of all, especially if you’re always stressed out and tired. After this getaway, you’ll both be relaxed, pampered, cleansed, and reinvigorated!
Small gifts give big rewards. If you really can afford it, then by all means go ahead and buy her a diamond ring or bracelet. A scented candle, a small bottle of perfume, or even massage oils will also do the trick. Romance is all about pleasing your partner, ladies and gentlemen. And while you’re at it, why not turn up the heat even more? Assemble a basket of romance with a variety of sensual gifts inside. For the ladies, pick out some sexy lingerie. Something scant and filmy will definitely take the romance to a whole new level.
Once you dedicate yourself to enhancing romance, you're likely to experience greater intimacy and an improved love life. And always remember, even if you can afford to spend a good deal of money to make her feel loved, now you know that you don’t have to.

No Cigarette Is Safe
Cigarette companies have traditionally used various means to allow consumers to distinguish between products. These may be words, like "lights", "mild", or pack colours, or other elements of products and pack design.
None of these elements of pack or product design, including brand names, taste and flavour or our cigarettes, are intended to suggest that any cigarette is less harmful than any other.
If you want to reduce or eliminate the health risks of smoking, quitting is the best choice for you. Many smokers have quit without help, but if you have difficulty quitting, you should consult a health professional.
